Today was a youth day and a day off, after the intense emotions of yesterday.

After breakfast, all the Chapter members went to the very big Josephites schools “Paulo VI” and “S. Josè ” at Quito in various sectors frequenting approximately 3000 students.

A big celebration in the huge gym, presided over by the new Fr. General, who recalled the beauty of celebrating the beginning of his service with children and young people and added that the name of the school dedicated to Pope Paul VI is a very significant fact because it is the Pope of the Second Vatican Council, he is the Pope of the beatification and of the canonization of St. Leonard Murialdo. He is the one who entrusted to the Josephites the pastoral care of “his” Oratory “St. Paul in Rome, but it is also the Pope who will be proclaimed saint by Pope Francis in Rome in the October during the Synod dedicated to young people.

After the solemn Mass everyone moved to the courtyard to give homage to Fr. Tullio and all the Chapter members: greetings, screams, songs, dances, gifts … a moment of joy and ineffable emotion with thousands of guys in celebration! Impossible to forget it! In the heart of all of us … forever!
And then a sumtuous lunch together, strictly in Italian style, served in the community from a restaurant of the city!

Finally, before returning to the Chapter headquarters, there was time for a tourist visit to the colonial center of Quito, it’s beautiful squares and churches and for a little ‘shopping in the stalls of colorful craft productions of Ecuador ( stuffs, wooden objects of the Amazon, indegenous religious articles, …) … many friends at home also expect this from those who come back!

There are over 1000 photos taken today, we lack the time to select them all because we came home late and very tired, but we will still find very beautiful images in the coming days, thanks to the official photographer p. Ferruccio!
