In this issue of *Vita Giuseppina* 5-26, we are pleased to share with you a central aspect of the Murialdo charism: the Murialdo-inspired vocational formation of young people and workers. In 19th-century Turin, in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, Leonardo Murialdo—rector of the Artigianelli since 1866—knew how to read the signs of the times. He chose work as the heart of a human and Christian educational journey, pointing to St. Joseph as the educational model to be emulated.

Today, in the age of artificial intelligence, new challenges and new questions confront the Church, educational institutions, parents, formators, and the entire Murialdo Family. In this rapidly evolving landscape, Murialdo-style vocational formation for young people and workers remains an indispensable resource for “safeguarding humanity”, promoting the dignity, freedom, and integral growth of every young person.

In this issue, we invite you to discover a journey that unites memory, the present, and the future: from the roots of the charism to the stories of concrete testimonies from the CSJ and the FdM in Africa, Albania, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Italy, and Spain.

MOVIMUR 2026: The Murialdine Schools Network Meets in Porto Alegre

Promoting meetings among young leaders from Murialdo schools is an extraordinary asset for our social and educational work: it enhances networking, encourages the exchange of experiences among students, and strengthens the sense of belonging to a large global family. It was precisely in this spirit that MOVIMUR took place—the annual gathering of student and youth movements within the Murialdo Education Network in Brazil, an event that brings together young people from different schools to experience moments of integration, spirituality, leadership, and sharing. The 7th edition of the event was held in Porto Alegre (Brazil) on September 18 and 19, 2026, hosted at the Colégio Murialdo in Porto Alegre. This year’s event had as its theme “Leadership and Hospitality” and as its motto the Gospel verse “He came to dwell among us” (John 1:14). Along with educational and spiritual activities, the gathering promoted concrete acts of solidarity, such as the traditional fundraising and donation drive for the “Projeto Morro da Cruz,” in support of local communities. At the conclusion of the event, the location of the 8th edition (2027) was announced; it will be hosted by the school of Ana Rech in Caxias do Sul. Together the Murialdine Schools Open Their Doors to the Civilization of Love

The start of a new school year always brings with it a special burst of energy, joy, and deep hope. This September, in countless schools and educational centers across the Murialdina network around the world—from Europe to Latin America, and to communities on the African continent such as Ghana and Nigeria— the bell rings once again . From classrooms in Italy to those in Quito and Ambato, Ecuador, to centers in Spain and all the institutions resuming classes in these weeks, thousands of students, teachers, and educators are coming together to embark on a new shared journey. The true value of this moment lies in the power of concrete collaboration. None of our schools walks alone: each one is a vital node in a single, large global organism that draws its strength from the charismatic pedagogy of the Congregation of St. Joseph and the legacy of St. Leonard Murialdo. Working together allows us to transcend geographical boundaries, share best practices, and cultivate everywhere a welcoming “family spirit” where every student feels valued, heard, and supported. In the Murialdian vision, educational and professional excellence always goes hand in hand with human and spiritual care. This richness is also reflected in the beauty of the world’s diverse rhythms: while in many countries classes resume in September, in other nations of the Southern Hemisphere—such as Brazil, Argentina, or Chile—the school year follows the calendar year, beginning at the start of the year. This diversity of times and seasons ensures an ideal continuity of prayer, educational commitment, and presence alongside young people throughout all twelve months, at any latitude. Starting anew today means renewing our shared commitment: “to educate hearts in order to foster the Civilization of Love.” In a rapidly changing global context, our challenge remains to form Christian citizens who are aware and compassionate, capable of building the future with responsibility and hope. To all the students, families, teachers, and the entire community of the great Murialdina Family, we extend our warmest wishes for a school year full of discoveries and achievements attained together.
