PROFUGHI DALL'UCRAINA ACCOLTI AL BRANDOLINI (ODERZO-TV)

Da don Massimo Rocchi, direttore dell'opera Brandolini, abbiamo ricevuto questa lettera:

Da questa sera al Brandolini dormono 19 profughi dell'Ucraina. E altri arriveranno ancora...
E' l'approdo di una richiesta fatta a noi dal sindaco di Oderzo ancora 15 giorni fa.
Abbiamo dato la disponibilità, valorizzando alcune zone dell'istituto non legate alla scuola.
I primi arrivati già venerdì 11 marzo sono una mamma con 2 figli, di 6 e 7 anni che alcuni di voi hanno già incontrato nella mensa e in cortile.
La mamma è stata badante per alcuni anni nella zona di Bologna e proviene dalla zona di Odessa.
Presto saranno presso una famiglia della zona e da lunedì al loro posto verranno due famiglie parenti con mamma e bambini, in tutto ben 7 persone.
Nel frattempo sono arrivati stasera i primi 16 componenti della squadra nazionale di atletica juniores dell'Ucraina,
come ampiamente annunciato dai giornali. Altri due - ci dicono - sono in arrivo. I loro allenatori (una è una mamma col figlio di 3 anni...) e gli atleti, quasi tutti tra i 15 e i 20 anni. Sono arrivati con i loro vestiti addosso e la loro borsa e valigia.
Vengono da Kiev, ma è difficile parlare con loro perché non parlano tutti inglese.
Ringrazio la maestra Alessia e Arianna, che dovremmo chiamare professoresse Bertuola e Tessaro, che insegnano inglese da noi,
ma sono insegnanti anche di russo e che stasera li hanno accolti parlando la loro seconda lingua.
Grazie al personale di servizio del Brandolini che si è messo a disposizione oggi per preparare loro le camere,
oltre al loro lavoro normale! Grazie a Stefano Giacomin che con vari tecnici ha sistemato il piano del convitto in soli 2 giorni,
visto che sapevamo del loro arrivo, ma ci è stato poi annunciato concretamente solo martedì sera.
Ci hanno messo tanto ad arrivare perché non è facile uscire ora dall'Ucraina!
Un grazie alla Caritas di Oderzo, a Bepi Zoni, alla Nuova Atletica 3 comuni che ha fatto da tramite.
Vi allego alcune foto. Sono stanchi e stasera hanno mangiato una pizza nella nostra mensa, insieme alla famiglia che già ospitavamo.
Nei prossimi giorni provvederanno ai documenti, alla profilassi sanitaria e... ad un po' di riposo!
Vedremo nei prossimi giorni, con calma, se e come potremo incontrarli.
Da lunedì saranno in mensa, non so ancora in quale orario.
Capite che c'è uno sforzo grande da parte del Brandolini, per riscaldare e far funzionare quei settori dell'istituto di solito non utilizzati,
per dare loro vitto ogni giorno (vedremo come si farà sabato e domenica, che non c'è la mensa...).
Vedremo se sarà possibile fare incontri con loro per sentire le loro storie.
Vedremo se sarà possibile che facciano qualche ora di scuola con i loro coetanei...
Ma per ora è importante che siano al sicuro, che abbiamo da dormire e mangiare e poter comunicare con i loro cari,
che sono ancora in Ucraina e su questo... vi lascio immaginare lo stato d'animo...
Cosa possiamo fare noi? magari ci chiedete... Aspettiamo ancora qualche giorno e poi vi diremo, man mano che capiamo meglio...
Di sicuro aiutarci nell'impegno che stiamo sostenendo e su questo vi diremo la prossima settimana.
Intanto era giusto e bello farvelo sapere in modo ufficiale.

International Meeting of Josephite Formators

Under the coordination of General Councilor Fr. Jacob Yeboah (C.S.J.), formators from Brazil (Fr. Geraldo Canever, Fr. Elves Bessa), the Central Delegation (Fr. Maximo Mantija, Fr. Shine John), Ecuador/Colombia (Fr. Julio Cesar Hernandez), the African Vice-Province (Fr. Arnaud Aniou), and India (Fr. Eugine Juliyan, Fr. Soos Antony Deeman). Other formators, unable to attend in person, are following the proceedings online. The goal of the meeting is to reinvigorate the initial formation of the Josephines of Murialdo, keeping their roots firmly planted in the Charism but with the necessary openness to future developments. At the heart of the program is the update of the Josephine Formation Guidelines for the entire Congregation. To all of them we extend our sincere thanks and our best wishes for fruitful work in the serious and profound accompaniment of our candidates and aspirants to the Josephine Religious Life.

Meeting Between the Italian Provincial Council and the General Council

On September 8, at the current provincial headquarters at Via degli Etruschi 7 in Rome, at the request of the Provincial Superior, Fr. Carmelo Prestipino (C.S.J.), the two Councils met with the aim of jointly examine some fundamental decisions for the Italian Province, following their Assembly held in Turin in recent days. Among the topics discussed were: the reorganization of the Italian Province in light of the decline in vocations, the assignments and placements of certain confreres, the financial restructuring involving the management of the Mother House’s real estate, and the procedures for implementing the “Economic-Charismatic Pact” across all the Province’s works, including those of ENGIM (Ente Nazionale Giuseppini del Murialdo). It was a moment of genuine sharing of concerns, but also of hopes for the future. The two Councils will develop concrete proposals to be presented on September 23 during an online meeting, while the final decisions will be communicated to the confreres via a joint document.

Murialdo 2027 Calendar: A Year to Experience Together

The Murialdo 2027 Agenda is currently being prepared; it is designed to accompany the days of the new year with events, reflections, and words inspired by the charism of St. Leonardo Murialdo. It will be a special edition, dedicated to the journey of preparation for the bicentennial of our Founder’s birth. The Church’s current message—which also sets forth guidelines for the future of the Church, our Congregation of St. Joseph, and the entire Murialdo Family, as presented in Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas—leads us to recognize the profound cultural, social, and technological challenges that society, and young people in particular, are facing in this time of profound change. If the trend in today’s world is to build a “New Babel,” which represents the idolatry of profit at the expense of the most vulnerable and increases the risk of dehumanization, we are called, according to Pope Leo XIV, to build the “New Jerusalem”—the city of love, where love is the sole guiding principle of economic, political, and cultural life. My hope for this year, 2027, is to make notes in my calendar that will contribute to the building of a new society, where God and humanity live together.
