Un GREST ridimensionato
(cioè con dimensioni nuove)
All’inizio sembrava tutto triste e deprimente: un GREST con meno bambini, meno ragazzi, meno attività…
Tutti a dire “dai, quest’anno è così ma l’anno prossimo ci rifaremo. Questa pandemia ci ha costretti a ridimensionare tutto ma ripartiremo alla grande!”.
Però poi passavano le giornate e il divertimento, la gioia, l’entusiasmo erano quelli di sempre. Anzi, magari c’era qualcosa di più. I primi sono stati i bambini a notarlo “abbiamo gustato più il fatto di stare insieme che vincere contro la squadra avversaria”. Poi è stata la volta degli animatori: “essere in pochi ci ha permesso di dare più attenzione personale a ogni bimbo; abbiamo sentito di meno lo stress dei tempi da rispettare; ci siamo sentiti più coinvolti: siccome eravamo pochi era chiaro che o lo facevi tu o non lo faceva nessuno”.
Proprio così: nessuno si sarebbe mai permesso di fare un esperimento del genere. Chi avrebbe mai detto “proviamo a limitare drasticamente il numero degli iscritti, a fare poche ore”? Dove c’è l’abitudine di un GREST dalle centinaia di presenze, e dalle tantissime attività, sembrava impossibile ridurre, anzi si identificava la folla con il successo (“tu quante iscrizioni hai avuto? Io solo 400!”).
Ma la pandemia ci ha costretto anche a questa verifica, facendoci scoprire qualcosa che ci impone una riflessione: siamo proprio sicuri che il GREST sia tanto più riuscito quanto più è affollato? Ma, soprattutto, siamo ancora consapevoli del vero scopo per cui facciamo il GREST e qualsiasi altra iniziativa del nostro oratorio? In vari modi gli animatori hanno detto di aver scoperto qualcosa di inaspettato, qualcosa che si può sintetizzare come “un vantaggio dal punto di vista relazionale ed educativo” sia in riferimento alla qualità del loro servizio, che al risultato apprezzabile nei ragazzi che quel servizio hanno ricevuto.
Ecco allora che il GREST ridimensionato non ha più il significato di “dimensioni ridotte” ma di “nuove dimensioni” quelle che a sorpresa ci si sono rivelate.
Certo, adesso nessuno dice che l’anno prossimo dobbiamo accettare solo pochi bimbi, ma di sicuro dobbiamo ricordare la lezione di quest’anno e provare a immettere dei meccanismi che rendano la manifestazione meno frenetica e più attenta all’aspetto delle relazioni.
Forse dobbiamo riscoprire le implicazioni più profonde contenute nel nostro famoso “giocare-imparare-pregare”, e ricercare ancora di più l’equilibrio tra le varie dimensioni della crescita. O, se proprio ci dobbiamo squilibrare, meglio essere sbilanciati a favore della relazione e della crescita spirituale.

MOVIMUR 2026: The Murialdine Schools Network Meets in Porto Alegre
Promoting meetings among young leaders from Murialdo schools is an extraordinary asset for our social and educational work: it enhances networking, encourages the exchange of experiences among students, and strengthens the sense of belonging to a large global family. It was precisely in this spirit that MOVIMUR took place—the annual gathering of student and youth movements within the Murialdo Education Network in Brazil, an event that brings together young people from different schools to experience moments of integration, spirituality, leadership, and sharing. The 7th edition of the event was held in Porto Alegre (Brazil) on September 18 and 19, 2026, hosted at the Colégio Murialdo in Porto Alegre. This year’s event had as its theme “Leadership and Hospitality” and as its motto the Gospel verse “He came to dwell among us” (John 1:14). Along with educational and spiritual activities, the gathering promoted concrete acts of solidarity, such as the traditional fundraising and donation drive for the “Projeto Morro da Cruz,” in support of local communities. At the conclusion of the event, the location of the 8th edition (2027) was announced; it will be hosted by the school of Ana Rech in Caxias do Sul.
