LE SUORE MURIALDINE DI SAN GIUSEPPE IN SIERRA LEONE

Carissimi fratelli e sorelle della Famiglia del Murialdo.

Sono molto contento di poter parteciparvi questa bella notizia: le suore Murialdine di San Giuseppe apriranno una loro prima comunità in Africa, in Sierra Leone, Mabesseneh, poco distante dalla nostra opera di Lunsar.

Lascio la parola a suor Orsola, madre generale delle Suore Murialdine: “L’arrivo in Sierra Leone è previsto per il 20 aprile. Le consorelle che costituiranno la comunità sono: Suor Amparo Guzman, superiora e maestra di formazione (equatoriana); Suor Victoria Antonysamy, professa perpetua (indiana); Suor Nirmala Simiyonraj, professa temporanea (indiana).

Le accompagnerà suor Mariana Guerrero, delegata per Ecuador e consigliera generale.

La comunità avrà la sua sede a Mabesseneh, nella casa che i Giuseppini hanno preparato. Svolgeranno lavoro apostolico nella scuola materna e probabilmente suor Victoria potrà insegnare inglese presso la scuola elementare dei Giuseppini.

Si impegneranno anche nella pastorale parrocchiale presso la parrocchia “San Leonardo Murialdo” dove è parroco don Gianni Zanni”.

Chiedo: “Come è stata presa la decisione di aprire una comunità in Africa”?

Continua suor Orsola: “I Giuseppini da tanti anni chiedevano la presenza della nostra congregazione in Sierra Leone allora ho deciso di fare un primo viaggio per conoscere la realtà. Era il settembre del 2001. Erano con me padre Lino Barbieri e padre Giuseppe Cavallin.

In quell’occasione mi era sembrato impossibile poter aprire una nostra comunità perché avevamo iniziato nel 1996 in Argentina e nel 1998 in Messico.

È venuta poi l’occasione di partecipare al capitolo generale dei Giuseppini nel 2018 in Ecuador e il superiore della Viceprovincia dell’Africa padre Luigi Cencin ha chiesto insistentemente la presenza di una nostra comunità in Sierra Leone. Ero titubante a causa dello scarso numero di consorelle, ma il sì è venuto da suor Amparo Guzman e da suor Victoria che si sono offerte.

Il consiglio generale è stato d’accordo di fare un’esperienza di tre mesi (realizzatasi dal 30 luglio al 27 ottobre 2019). Poiché l’esperienza è stata positiva, in consiglio generale si è presa la decisione di aprire la prima comunità. Avevamo fissato la data il 15 agosto 2020 in ricordo del 40° anniversario della morte di Padre Luigi Casaril, ma la pandemia non lo ha permesso”.

E’ stata concordata la data di inaugurazione per il 1° maggio 2021 e suor Orsola spera di essere presente.

E’ un sogno che si realizza ed è una esperienza missionaria che si attualizza.

E’ un bel segno per tutta la Famiglia del Murialdo.

Affidiamo in modo particolare questa primizia missionaria delle Suore Murialdine in Africa a San Giuseppe. Nel suo nome è significato un futuro di crescita: è quanto auguriamo con affetto e nella preghiera.

The first session of the Murialdina Family Short Courses is kicking off!

The Murialdo Family is offering a new free online training initiative open to all members, both laypeople and religious. Between September and October 2026, the first phase of a program will begin, featuring short courses (4 live sessions on Zoom) focused on three fundamental dimensions: Pedagogical-Pastoral, Anthropological-Theological, and Charismatic. Each course will be taught in its respective language: Pedagogical-Pastoral Dimension: "Educar com o Coração: A Pedagogia do Amor na prática murialdina" (Educating with the Heart: The Pedagogy of Love in Murialdian Practice) - Language: Portuguese. Anthropological-Theological Dimension: "The Social Doctrine of the Church from a Murialdian Perspective" (The Social Doctrine of the Church from a Murialdian Perspective) - Language: Spanish. Murialdian Charismatic Dimension: "The Murialdian Charism" - Language: Italian. Inclusion and Flexibility: The courses are free and open to anyone who understands the language in which they are taught. A certificate of participation will be issued to those who meet the requirements, and the lessons will be recorded on the FdM YouTube channel for those who cannot attend live. 13th National Seminar of the Murialdo Social Assistance Network: Putting Intentions into Practice

From August 14 to 16, 2026, Brasília hosted the 13th National Seminar of the Murialdo Social Assistance Network, led by Fr. Welton Andrade. With the theme “Transforming Intentions into Action,” the meeting brought together workers and representatives from the 13 social units located in 11 cities across 9 states in Brazil, which provide daily care and education to as many as 5,462 children, adolescents, and families. The event opened with remarks by the Provincial Superior of the Josephites in Brazil, Fr. Lídio Roman, who recalled how the charism of St. Leonard is expressed in the concrete care for life and the defense of human dignity, citing the famous motto “ Ne perdantur—let no one be lost". A highlight of the opening was the panel discussion led by educator Stephany Monique and adolescents Maria Clara and Luciana, who spoke about the importance of youth leadership. Notable among the educational presentations were those by the jurist and educator Angela Mendonça, which focused on the comprehensive protection of minors, and by the Secretary General of the Congregation, Fr. Victor Abreu, who explored “familiarity” as a style of presence, listening, and charismatic closeness. The Network’s new website and the formation platform, developed by Julio César Rodrigues, were also presented. Using the symbolic metaphor of the gear—in which every piece is essential to the collective movement—the Assembly concluded its proceedings by drafting the Charter of Commitment(Charter of Commitment), a shared document that transforms these reflections into concrete guidelines for the future. As the Assembly recalled, drawing on the words of the founder: “We are in God’s hands; we are in good hands.”

Brazil: The Capital's New Viaduct Named After Father Aleixo Susin

Una splendida notizia giunge dal Brasile: è stata ufficialmente approvata l'intitolazione del nuovo viadotto sulla strada statale BR-020 alla memoria di p. Aleixo Susin, C.S.J. Questo riconoscimento rende omaggio alla figura del sacerdote giuseppino, che ha speso tantissimi anni della sua vita al servizio della missione a Brasília, lasciando un segno profondo in particolare tra le comunità delle città satellite di Planaltina e Guará. La notizia è stata accolta con grande gioia e condivisa sui social anche dalla Parrocchia Santa Rita de Cássia di Planaltina, a testimonianza dell'affetto immutato che lega la comunità locale alla memoria di padre Aleixo.
