Personalità di grande rilievo, per le doti umane e per la profonda spiritualità che lo animava. Degno figlio del Murialdo, missionario in Brasile, fondò nuove opere a favore dei ragazzi della strada. Amante della natura, delicato nel tratto, era un educatore attento ai bisogni dei giovani poveri. Vero padre per tutti, aveva la forza dei santi, l’abbandono assoluto nelle mani di Dio e nella sua Provvidenza.

BEATIFICAZIONE DI PADRE GIOVANNI SCHIAVO

Padre Schiavo è stato il formatore delle prime generazioni di murialdine in Brasile, in sintonia con

le direttive di padre Luigi Casaril, fondatore, e di madre Maria Ellena, la prima superiora generale,

tracciando per le suore un cammino solido di vita consacrata fondata sull’amore a Dio e al prossimo,

vissuta in umiltà e carità, nella dedizione ai giovani poveri e alle famiglie.

La sua fama di santità si è diffusa quando era ancora in vita. Fu sepolto nel piccolo cimitero

delle Suore Murialdine a Fazenda Souza e la sua tomba da subito divenne luogo di preghiera.

Innumerevoli le grazie ricevute per sua intercessione.

Il 14 dicembre 2015 Papa Francesco ha promulgato il decreto sull’eroicità delle virtù di Padre Schiavo.

Il 1° dicembre 2016 è stato approvato il miracolo della guarigione di Juvelino Cara.

Il 28 ottobre 2017 è stato beatificato.

In Turin, the Assembly of the Italian Province: Between Discernment, Transformation, and Shared Responsibility

From 24 to 27 August 2026, the historic Collegio Artigianelli in Turin will host the Assembly of the Italian Province of the Congregation of the Josephites of Murialdo. It will be an intensive gathering of reflection, fraternity and strategic planning to set out the guidelines for the future of the mission. The proceedings will focus on identifying the “desired transformations” and the operational changes to be implemented, organised around five key thematic areas: consecrated life, shared responsibilitywithin the charism, management transformation, the transformation of pgeographical presence and new charismatic witnesses. The assembly features a number of speeches and events of great symbolic significance: on Monday 24th, proceedings will open with an introduction by the Provincial Superior, Fr Carmelo Prestipino, and a meditation on “Conversion and Change” led by Monsignor Derio Olivero, followed by the Penitential Service; on Tuesday 25th, there will be a presentation of the Province’s financial position by Fr Giuseppe Minisci and a talk by Stefano Bucci, culminating in the celebration of Vespers and a reflection on “Reorganising Hope”; on Wednesday 26th, the day begins with Holy Mass at the Consolata Shrine, followed by the presentation of the working groups’ reports and the prayer vigil at the Artigianelli; Finally, on Thursday 27th, announcements from the sector leaders and the closing remarks will lead the participants to the closing Mass in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception.

The first session of the Murialdina Family Short Courses is kicking off!

The Murialdo Family is offering a new free online training initiative open to all members, both laypeople and religious. Between September and October 2026, the first phase of a program will begin, featuring short courses (4 live sessions on Zoom) focused on three fundamental dimensions: Pedagogical-Pastoral, Anthropological-Theological, and Charismatic. Each course will be taught in its respective language: Pedagogical-Pastoral Dimension: "Educar com o Coração: A Pedagogia do Amor na prática murialdina" (Educating with the Heart: The Pedagogy of Love in Murialdian Practice) - Language: Portuguese. Anthropological-Theological Dimension: "The Social Doctrine of the Church from a Murialdian Perspective" (The Social Doctrine of the Church from a Murialdian Perspective) - Language: Spanish. Murialdian Charismatic Dimension: "The Murialdian Charism" - Language: Italian. Inclusion and Flexibility: The courses are free and open to anyone who understands the language in which they are taught. A certificate of participation will be issued to those who meet the requirements, and the lessons will be recorded on the FdM YouTube channel for those who cannot attend live. 13th National Seminar of the Murialdo Social Assistance Network: Putting Intentions into Practice

From August 14 to 16, 2026, Brasília hosted the 13th National Seminar of the Murialdo Social Assistance Network, led by Fr. Welton Andrade. With the theme “Transforming Intentions into Action,” the meeting brought together workers and representatives from the 13 social units located in 11 cities across 9 states in Brazil, which provide daily care and education to as many as 5,462 children, adolescents, and families. The event opened with remarks by the Provincial Superior of the Josephites in Brazil, Fr. Lídio Roman, who recalled how the charism of St. Leonard is expressed in the concrete care for life and the defense of human dignity, citing the famous motto “ Ne perdantur—let no one be lost". A highlight of the opening was the panel discussion led by educator Stephany Monique and adolescents Maria Clara and Luciana, who spoke about the importance of youth leadership. Notable among the educational presentations were those by the jurist and educator Angela Mendonça, which focused on the comprehensive protection of minors, and by the Secretary General of the Congregation, Fr. Victor Abreu, who explored “familiarity” as a style of presence, listening, and charismatic closeness. The Network’s new website and the formation platform, developed by Julio César Rodrigues, were also presented. Using the symbolic metaphor of the gear—in which every piece is essential to the collective movement—the Assembly concluded its proceedings by drafting the Charter of Commitment(Charter of Commitment), a shared document that transforms these reflections into concrete guidelines for the future. As the Assembly recalled, drawing on the words of the founder: “We are in God’s hands; we are in good hands.”
